Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Burnham-Wood Funeral home in West Union, Iowa for Florence Victoria Popenhagen who passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union. Interment was at the Union Cemetery.

Florence "Popo" Victoria Popenhagen was born on August 31, 1924 to Sigfred and Sigrid (Larson) Amdahl in Dover Township, West Union, Fayette County, Iowa. On September 28, 1924 she was baptized at the St. Olaf Church, West Union. She attended Dover #3 Country School and later West Union High School. She was united in marriage to Vern Popenhagen on September 27, 1941 in West Union, Iowa. The couple farmed in the West Union area for many years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in West Union. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and visits from family and friends.

Mrs. Popenhagen is survived by her daughter Vickie (Conley) Meyer of West Union; granddaughter Michelle (Jamie Snyder) Rozmus of Montezume, Iowa; grandson Layne (Joni) Meyer of West Union; two great-granddaughters Kayla (Kris) and Kaitlyn; two great-grandsons Kyle and Seth; two great-great granddaughters, Meredith and Chyles; two sisters-in-law Lucille Amdahl of West Union and Verla Amdahl of West Union; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers Ervie Amdahl and Russell Amdahl; and her sister Gladys Gage.
