~ OBITUARIES ~

RITES HELD FOR JOHN HADER.

Rev Ernest T Thompson officiated at the funeral service of John Vernon Hader on Tuesday. Aug. 4. at 1:30 p.m. at Muehlethaler Funeral Home, Elgin. Committal followed at the Elgin Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Elgin American Legion Post. Casket bearers were members of the Elgin American Legion.

John Vernon, son of Gus and Annie Amoth Hader, was born Sept. 8. 1905 in, Highland Township, Clayton County. He was raised and educated in the area attending rural schools. He lived in and around Clayton and Fayette Counties all of his life with the exception of his time in the service. He entered the service on March 10, 1942 and was honorably discharged on Aug. 28, 1943, serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.

After the service, John spent his working years farming for various people within the area. After a short time in the V A. Hospital at Iowa City, his death occurred there on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the age of 81.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Royce Murphy.

He leaves to survive three sisters. Mrs. Barney (Ruby) Yauslin, Clermont; Mrs. Doris Erickson, Elgin and Mrs. Orville (Beryl) Frieden, Elkport.
