The funeral of Joseph Schneider was held from the Apostolic Church, east of Elgin, IA on Sunday, May 9th, 1914, and a large concourse of relatives and friends gathered to pay a last sad tribute to the venerable man. Deceased was well known for his many qualities and was liked and respected by all. He had lived a long and useful life and as he passes on there are many who regret his departure.

Joseph Schneider was born in Canton Berne, Switzerland, January 11, 1827 and died May 7, 1914. He was past eighty-seven years of age at the time of his death and had resided for many years on the farm east of town. He leaves to mourn a devoted wife and nine children, Mrs. Mary Wander of Oelwein; Joseph and Louis Schneider of West Bend; Mrs. Rachel Frieden, Ben Schneider, Mrs. Rosa Baumgartner, Mrs. Lousia Martie, Celia Schneider and Fred Schneider of Elgin; together with fifty-four grand children and ten great grand children and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the Apostolic church Sunday and interment was made in the cemetery there.
