FAYETTE.
The aged mother of H.J. Mathews died last Wednesday. The funeral was held at the house on the old Ashby farm northwest of town. Thursday at two o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev. Will. Interment was made in the Dunham's Grove Cemetery.

Transcriber note: death occurred on 10 May 1899. Mrs. Mathews was born Harriett Newton Carpenter, daughter of Jasper & Harriet Persis (Newton) Carpenter 18 Jun 1819. Harriett was the wife of Hiram J. Mathews.
