Emma Carodine Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Parren Allen, was born June 8, 1861, near Pecatonica, HI. She died in the home of her son, Dr. Ray Crider, at Elgin, March 7, age 88 years, seven months and nine days. A short service was held at the funeral home in Elgin, with graveside service in the Waucoma cemetery, March 9.
In 1882 she was united in marriage to Jake Crider, Chambersburg, Pa. Later they moved to Iowa and lived on a farm east of Alpha for several years. Then they bought a farm near Waucoma where they were living when Mr. Crider died in April, 1920. Seven children were born to this union, one son, Harry, dying in June 1946.
Surviving are six children, Chester Crider, Chicago, 111.; Dr. Clate Crider, Elkader; Belle, Mrs. Ted Kelly, Iowa City; Dr. Ray
Crider, Elgin; Loran Crider, Waucoma, and Virgil Crider, EldoradoSeveral years later she married Lon Liddle, Alpha, and who died in December, 1935. Since 1939 she has lived with her children and relatives, spending most of her time in Waucoma until last fall when she went to live with her son in Elgin.
Surviving besides the children mentioned, she leaves one sister, Mrs. Sarah Paul, Leaf River, HI.; one stepson, Russell Liddle, Dardanelle, Ark.; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She was an active member of the Christian church.
