OBITUARY

Mrs. Daniel Roarty Sr. died Wednesday evening, August 26, at the family residence in this city, after an illness of two years.

Deceased's maiden name was Mary Ann O'Day. She was born, April 7, 1833, in Dublin, Ireland; came to America in 1851 and in 1853 she and Daniel Roarty, who survives her, were united in marriage in St. Mary's church, New York City.

In 1856 she and her husband struck out for the west and settled in Evansville, Rock county, Wis., here they remained until 1870 when they came to this county and settled on their farm north of town which was their homestead until 1894 when they came to this city, which has since been their home.

The marriage of Ann O'Day and Daniel Roarty was a happy one, six children, four of whom are living, were born to this union. They are Mrs. Frank Smith and Dan Roarty who live north of town. Mrs. Will Tiernan and James Roarty of this city.

Mrs. Roarty was a devout member of the Roman Catholic church and died in the full enjoyment of all the sacraments pf that church. she was, moreover a good, kind neighbor, a good wife and mother and was beloved by all who knew her.

The funeral was held Friday morning from St, Joseph's church in this city, Rev. Father Slattery officiating and celebrating a solemn requiem high mass. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boyle of Stoughton, Wis., relatives of the deceased, were in attendance at the funeral.
