MRS. HATTIE H. COCHRANWAUCOMA — Hattie H. Cochran was born north of Waucoma, the daughter of John and Julia Lawrence. Her death occurred at the New Hampton hospital June 5, 1956.
Funeral services were conducted at the Federated church June 9; by the Rev. Glen McMichael, Waverly, a former pastor. Burial was in the Waucoma cemetery.
At an early age she went to live with her foster parents, an uncle and aunt, Joseph and Harriett Holmes. She taught school after graduating from Breckenridge Institute at Decorah. She also attended Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls. With her foster parents she moved to Waucoma March 1, 1900.
Her marriage to Charles Cochran took place Sept. 14, 1904. He died in February, 1943. One daughter, Harriett, was born to this union.
Mrs. Cochran was a member for more than 50 years of the Waucoma Congregational church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Reading Circle.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lawrence; her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Holmes; three brothers, Alexander, Joseph and Charles Lawrence and one sister, Mrs. Charles Free.
Surviving are a daughter, Harriett, Mrs. James Koehler, and two grandchildren, Pamela and Thomas Koehler; two sisters, Mrs. Waiter Thompson (Edna) of Bode and Mrs. Frank Krumm (Mae) of Mason City; seven nieces and nephews.
