Waucoma, March 21. -- Mrs. Agnes Barbour, Waucoma's oldest resident, died Friday at the age of ninety years and four days.Agnes Murray was born in Petietcoat, Quebec, Canada, March 14, 1842. She was married to David Barbour Dec. 27, 1859, at Woodstock, Ontario, and lived on a farm near there until her husband's death Dec. 6, 1865, after which she came to Iowa with her family of little ones to be with her parents two miles east of Waucoma. Here and on two farms nearby she reared her four children to young womanhood and manhood: Margaret or (Mrs. Fred Fallows), Robert M.,, William M., and David G., two of who survive --W.M. of Waucome, who has made a comfortable home for his aged mother, and David of Ontario, Calif. She has lived in the present home since about 1885, when they moved into Waucoma. She joined the church early in life, always has lived up to its teachings, and was a very active worker when health permitted.
Grandma Barbour, as she was known by all who love her, is the last of seven sisters to die. Besides the two sons to mourn her passing she leaves two daughters-in-law, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. She has been in poor health the last five years. On Nov. 3, 1930, she fell and broke her right leg, since which time she has required constant care, until her. Savior called her home at 3:15 a.m. Friday, March 18, 1932, at the advanced age of ninety years and four days.
Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon. March 21, at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. J.P. Gable. Interment was in the Waucoma cemetery.
