Fayette, Ia., - SPECIAL: Funeral services Asa Steggall, 85, were held Thursday at the Bellas Funeral Home with the Rev. William Dyer conducting. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery.He was born March 31, 1853, at Sandusky, Ohio. When he was four years old, he was brought to Iowa by his parents in a covered wagon. The family located on a farm west of Oelwein. He married Verdis Shanklin on March 20, 1877. Mrs. Stegall preceded him in death in 1931.
Mr. Stegall suffered a stroke seven years ago which left him a cripple. He was ill for several weeks prior to his death here Tuesday at the home of his son, Albert. He leaves his son, Albert; a grandchild; two brothers, A. G. and Charles Stegall, both of Oelwein; one sister, Mrs. Della Fortner of Cadott, Wis.
He was a member of the M. E. Church and for 18 years was superintendent of road work in Fayette County.
