Raymond H. Stoddard, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 1996, in Oelwein Health Care Center after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Grace United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Robert Dagit. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, where a Masonic service begins at 7 p.m., and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Leola; a daughter, Connie Short of Cedar Rapids; and two sisters, Lurene King of Reinbeck and Luella Payne of Oelwein.
Also surviving is a granddaughter, Cindy George of Cincinnati.
Raymond worked for the Oelwein Police Department for more than 20 years and was the Oelwein police chief from 1954 to 1960, and again from 1962 until he retired in 1967.
A memorial fund has been established.
