Rev. Ernest T. Thompson conducted funeral services for Ludwig T. Anderson, Tuesday, July 31, 1990, at the Elgin Lutheran Church, Elgin, Iowa followed by burial in the East Clermont Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Clermont, Iowa.

Ludwig Theodore Anderson, son of Martin and Ingeborg "Isabell" (Thompson) Anderson, was born June 29, 1892 in Fayette County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the East Clermont Lutheran Church and remained a member of the Lutheran faith. He attended country school, worked at various farm jobs before entering the army during World War I, where he served 13 months and was company mechanic and supply sergeant in France. He was a member of the Elgin American Legion.

On December 27, 1929, he married Rosine Gilbertson at the Lutheran parsonage in Waukon. He worked with carpentry and they resided in Nashua, Iowa for a short time then made their home in Clermont. To this union was born one daughter, Ruth Helen. Rosine died October 30, 1930.

On May 17, 1937, Ludwig married Margaret Erickson Johnson and they established their home on a farm near Clermont, where they resided until retirement when they moved to Elgin. Margaret's death occurred August 1963.

Ludwig continued his carpentry work until 1978 when he sold his home and made his home with his step-daughter, Jennie and Elmer Borness, near Decorah, Iowa. The past eight years he resided at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union, Iowa, where his death occurred Saturday, July 28, 1990 at the age of 98 years and 29 days.

He is survived by his daughter Ruth, Mrs. James Martin of Naches, Washington, two grandsons, Steven Martin of Eureka, Montana, and Gordon Martin of Selah, Washington,four great-grandchildren Jamie and Kurtis of Montana and Jeffrey and Eric of Washington, several nieces and nephews, eight step-grandchildren, Bertha Randall of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Harry Johnson of Festina, Iowa, Oscar Johnson of Duncanville, Texas, Jennie Borness of Decorah, Harold Johnson of West Union, Gladys Fennell of Mesa, Arizona, Kenneth Johnson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ole Johnson of Alexandria, Virginia, 21 step-grandchildren, 51 step-great grandchildren, and several step-great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wives Rosine and Margaret,two sisters, Anna Gunderson and Amanda Nesteby, two brothers, Gilbert and Henry Anderson, one step-son Harley Johnson, three step-daughters, Marie Pritchard, Mabel Luders, and Blanche Butts, and one step-grandson. (Name was not given).
