Delores Dawn (Cowles) Chensvold passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Wellington Place in Decorah, Iowa. She was born on April 1, 1930 in Fayette County, Iowa to Park and Lulu (Miller) Cowles. She attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa after graduating from the West Union High School in 1947.

Delores was united in marriage to Curtis Chensvold on November 13, 1948 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Ossian, Iowa. Four children were born to this marriage. She worked for Woodard Insurance Agency in West Union for over 40 years. Before that she taught grade school in rural Hawkeye, Iowa for one year. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Ossian.

Delores is survived by her three sons, Roger Chensvold of West Union; Ron Chensvold of Gulf Shores, Alabama; and Don Chensvold of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her daughter, Connie Fox of St. Charles, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; her three brothers Stanley (Donna) Cowles, George (Darlene) Cowles, and Bob (Beverly) Cowles; and her sister-in-law Pauline Cowles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother Ken Cowles.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 7, 2015 at the West Union Cemetery in West Union, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials be made in Delores's name to Wellington Place in Decorah for their new chapel project. Burham-Wood and S.K. Rogers Funeral Home in West Union assisted the family with the arrangements.
