OBITUARY
MARQUETTE SERVICE HELD MONDAY

Services for Lee Marquette, 97, Hawkeye were held Monday, March 16, at 2 p.m. in United Methodist Church Hawkeye. Rev. Roger White officiated at the service with interment in Grandview Cemetery, Fayette. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home was in charge if arrangements.

He died Friday, March 13, 1997 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

Lee Marquette, son of Bert and Minnie (Paige) Marquette, was born Jan. 7, 1901 near Wadena, He was baptized at the Lima Church and received his education in the rural Fayette County Schools.

On Sept. 10, 1925 he was united in marriage with Zella White in the United Methodist Parsonage in West Union. The couple farmed in Fayette County until retiring in 1954. For the past 20 years they made their home in Hawkeye. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Hawkeye.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Luther and Kenneth and two sisters, Cecil and Ethel.

Survivors include his wife, Zella, also a resident of the New Hampton home; a son, Wayne, West Union; a daughter, Doris Horney, New Hampton;eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
