FORMER RESIDENT BURIED IN NORTH DAKOTA RITES

Funeral services for Lyle C. Aarhus, 45, Topeka, Kan., were held at Vertin's Chapel at Wahpton, N. Dak., on Thursday, May 4. Rev. R.D. Mollum officiated. Interment was at Sterns Cemetery at Colfax, N. Dak. Mr. Aarhus is a former West Union resident.

Pallbearers were Lynhall Aarhus, Larry Christenson, Walter Oscarson, Norman Oscarson, Kenneth Christenson and Harold Lorgerson. Military rites were conducted by Abercrombie American Legion.

He was born Feb 13, 1922, grew up at Colfax and attended school there. After entering the army in World War II, he served in the European theater and was wounded in action. Upon being discharged from service, he lived in Iowa several years, then moved to Kansas a few years ago.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters: Donald, Elma; Larry, Cresco; Daniel, Cedar Rapids; Norma, Mrs. Norman Kleppe, Ossian; Vondelle, Mrs. Curtis Block, Waukon; his mother, Mrs. Elmer Evenson, Breckenridge, Minn.; four half brothers, Wallace, New Effington, S. Dak.; Gordon, Lisbon, N. Dak.; Vernon, Albuquerque, N. Mex.; Arlin, Breckenridge, Minn.; three half sisters, Mrs. Sanford Sorenson, Moorehead, Minn., Mrs. Harvey Kraemer, Lidgewood, N. Dak,; and Mrs. Phil Sakrismo, West Fargo, N. Dak.

Mrs. Norman Kleppe, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Block and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Aarhus, returned home Friday
