~~OBITUARIES~~
HILGERSON RITES HELD AT BETHANY CHURCH

Funeral services for Myron Hilgerson were conducted Monday,May 21, at 10:30 a.m., by Rev. Richard Vettrus at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural West Union, followed by interment in the church cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Burnham-Wood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Dennis Schwinefus, Walter Knutson, Rick Kleppe, Leslie Kleppe, Tom Kleppe and Greg Lauer.

Myron Louis Hilgerson, son of Andrew and Helga (Lervold) Hilgerson, was born March 9, 1907, on a farm near Clermont. He was the oldest of 11 children. He received his education at a country school, Dover #6. He was baptized and confirmed at Stavanger Lutheran Church near Ossian.

On Aug. 19, 1933, he was united in marriage to Clarice Osterhus and they settled on a small farm near Clermont. They later moved to a farm in the Ossian-Castalia area where they lived for 40 years. In December 1947, they adopted two girls, Louise and Sharon.

His death occurred May 18, at the Good Samaritan Center, West Union, where he had lived since 1980. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Henry.

He is survived by his wife, Clarice; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Louise) Kleppe, Oelwein, and Sharon Anderson, Hubert, N.C.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Adrian and Howard, West Union, and Clarence, Postville; six sisters, Gladys Kleppe, Myrtle Mork, Ella Saboe, Edna Peterson, and Arlene Sutter, all of West Union, and Thelma Schwinefus, Ossian; many nieces and nephews.
