OBITUARY OF OLA LEOTA MOSER

Ola Leota Moser was born January 2, 1904, at Strawberry Point, the child of John and Cora (Straub) Coffin. Leota was the third of five children, three girls and two boys. She received her primary education in the country schools and graduated from the Strawberry Point High Schol in 1923.

As a young adult, she was a hired girl, assisting farm families where ever there was need. Ola Leota Coffin married Rudy Moser at Vinton, September 10, 1925. Four children were born to this union, Raymond, Barbara, John and one stillborn.

Leota and Rudy worked as hired helpers on a few farms prior to their own first place at Buck Creek in 1935. After farming at several locations, the moved to West Union upon their retirement in 1962. Rudy died in March 1966. Leota helped keep house for a time, then moved into the retirement apartments at Elgin. She entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in 1977.

Ola Leota Moser died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 1985, following a few days at the Palmer Memorial Hospital, West Union.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and her sisters.

Leota is survived by her brother, Von, Doswell, VA; her children, Raymond, Viroqua, WI., Barbara (Mrs. David Gearhart), Dundeel, John, Elgin; a stepson, Martin Moser, Earlville; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren and one step great great grandson.

Leota Moser was a member of the United Methodist Church, West Union. She enjoyed handcrafts, and despite failing eyesight, continued to make things up to her last day at the Good Samaritan Home.

Funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 27, at United Methodist Church, West Union, with Pastor Stephen R. Root Jr. officiating.

Pallbearers were James Coffin, Allan Coffin, Alonza Beeh, John Shaffer, Robert Coffin, Micah Beeh.

Arrangement were Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union.
