OBITUARY OF REX MULFORD.

Rex Marshall Mulford was born August 21, 1912, at Winthrop, IA, to Clifford and Cora (Marshall) Mulford. He attended school at Winthrop and graduated from the Winthrop High School.
February 1941, Rex enlisted in the United States Armed Services. He received his basic training February to October 1941; discharged to Enlisted Reserve. Activated January 1942 until September 1945 when he received his honorable discharge. Rex reached the rank of Sergeant serving in the Service Co. of the 66th Armored Regiment.
Following his discharge from service, Rex came to Elgin, where he joined his father in the family owned business, The Elgin Produce.

December 28, 1952, Rex was united in marriage to Ruby (Olson) Stephenson at Dyersville. The couple made their home in Elgin. Ruby died in 1980.

Rex was baptized in the Methodist faith. He was a member of the Silver Leaf Lodge 518 (Elgin Masonic Lodge) and the American Legion Post No. 352.

He married LaVonna Dicks, December 19, 1981, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Elgin.
Rex died Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Veterans Hospital, Iowa City.

The body was cremated with memorial services held Sunday, Nov. 6, at Muehlethaler Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Parrott officiating. Masonic Services were held at the Elgin Lodge No. 518.

Burial was in the Elgin Cemetery with full military honors by the Elgin American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, LaVonna, seven stepchildren, Linda (Stephenson) Frieden, Minneapolis, MN, William Stephenson, Smyrna, GA, Sally Stephenson, Honolulu, HI, Gary Dicks, San Antonio, TX, Richard Dicks, Wichita, KS, Pauline Patrick, West Union, and Glenda Williams, Washington; 16 step grandchildren, one step great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. John (Elva) Tillotson, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.
