Mary Erma (Doan) Bailey, daughter of T.W. and Louise (Schori) Doan, was born July 10, 1908, at Elgin, IA, and died November 4, 1983, in Greensboro, NC.
She attended the Elgin Public Schools and Pitze’s Beauty School.
On September 22, 1923, she married James Forrest Bailey, and Later maintained a beauty shop in Elgin for several years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, James Forrest Bailey; her parents, T.W. and Louise Doan; her sister, Gladys Grimes, and three brothers, Lewis, Donald and Paul Doan.
Surviving her is one daughter, Virley Gene (Mrs. Walter) Bovis; one granddaughter, Mary Sue (Mrs. Louis) Richt; two great granddaughters, Kristine and Caren; one sister, Alma Tripp; one sister-in-law, Edith Doan, and seven nieces.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 7, 1983, at Muehlethaler Funeral Home, Elgin, with Rev. Tom Parrott officiating. Eastern Star Services were conducted by Elgin Chapter #162.
Pallbearers were Steven Aanes, Jack Adrian, Lawrence Grimm, Gene Klinge, Michael Wilson and William Yearous.
