OBITUARIES. MRS. E.G. STOEHR

Lizetta Abbey was born in Elgin, Iowa, August 29, 1859, and died Jan. 1, 1935, at her home in Elgin, at the age of seventy-five years, four months and two days.

On July 1, 1881, she was united in marriage to E. G. Stoehr of Elgin. To this union were born four children, Nellie Schori of Elgin, Lewis Stoehr of Cedar Rapids, Georgia Elkema of Iowa City, and one child who died in infancy. They made their first home in the site of their present home where they have lived for 53 years and 6 months.

Mrs. Stoehr was devoted to her home and friends. Her motherliness was rewarded by the love and respect of all children who knew her. Her quiet thoughtfulness endeared her to her neighbors all of whom will miss her sorely.

She was one of a family of nine children two of whom preceded her in death. She was baptized in infancy in the Reformed Evangelical church.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, E.G. Stoehr, three children, Nellie, Lewis and Georgia, one granddaughter, Betty Jean Elkema, five sisters, Mrs. Mary Moser, Mrs. Emma Reusser of Elgin, Bertha Abbey and Mrs. Louise Wells of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Rose Garner of Hollywood, Calif., and one brother, Philip Abbey of Hoodsport, Wash. There are also a host of friends who will grieve with the family for a true friend.

The funeral services were held in the home on Thursday afternoon at two o’clock conducted by Rev. J.J. Snyder. The casket bearers were Boise Capper, Mel Kohler, Ray DeSart, Max Thoma, Max Hunsberger and Adolph Lehman. Burial was made in the Elgin cemetery.
