Robert Christian Mittelstadt

Robert Christian Mittelstadt, 77, of West Union, died Friday, May 14, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 20, at 11 a.m., at First Lutheran Church, rural Ossian, with the Rev. Dennis Hugdahl officiating.

Helen Guyer was the organist. The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Onward Christian Soldiers".

Casket bearers were Kent Halverson, Wayne, Kenneth, Wade and Warren Mittelstadt and Ronnie Helgerson.

Burnham-Wood Funeral Home of West Union handled arrangements.

Robert "Bob" was born Oct. 1, 1921, the son of August and Ida May (Alton) Mittelstadt, at their home near West Union.

He farmed and also operated a trucking service hauling livestock for area farmers.

He married Helen Moe at the Little Brown Church at Nashua in 1984. Bob lived at his home in West Union until May 5, 1999, when he entered St. Mary's Hospital at Rochester, Minn.

Survivors include three nieces and three nephews.

Robert Mittelstadt was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen, who died Jan. 6, 1995; one brother, Eddie; and one sister, Elsie Helgerson.
