Marjorie Anderson

Marjorie J. Olson Anderson, daughter of Vern and Tresa (Ames) Koth, was born January 19, 1922, in Monona Township, Clayton County, near Monona, IA. She died Friday, May 10, 1991, at her home in Clermont.

She was baptized September 2, 1922, in the Methodist Church in Monona and confirmed in the West Clermont Lutheran Church.

Marjorie was graduated from the Postville High School in 1940. On November 27, 1940, she was married to Louis Arthur Olson, To this union two sons, Curtis and Leslie, were born. They farmed in the Clermont area for many years. Upon leaving farming in 1952, Marjorie was employed as a telephone operator for the Scenic Ridge Telephone Company until 1960. She and Louis then owned and operated the Riverview Motel at Harpers Ferry until 1969. She was employed at Valhalla until 1982, when she retired. Her husband, Louis died October 11, 1979.

On May 23, 1982, she was married to Leslie Anderson. They enjoyed traveling and flower gardening. Marjorie liked to crochet and had made afghans for her 13 grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis, and a brother, Donald.

Surviving are her husband, Leslie, two sons, Curtis G. (Curt) Olson and his wife, Dody, Cedar Falls, and Leslie L. (Les) Olson and his wife, Susan, Hastings, MN, four stepchildren, Janice and her husband, Roger Torson, Cedar Rapids, Lyle Anderson, Otis, OR, Marilyn and her husband, Roger Falb, Elgin, and Stan Anderson, Port Byron, IL; five grandchildren, Mickka, Shelli, Eric, Kimberly and Jessica Olson; eight step grandchildren, Darin, Ryan and Amber Torson, Shaun and Tina Anderson, Shannon, Wendy and Shane Falb; two brothers: Ray Koth and his wife, Kathryn, Garnavillo, and Foster Koth and his wife, Hildegard, Monona.

Marjorie was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran church and the Women of the ELCA. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Clermont for many years.

Funeral service was held Monday, May 13, 1991, 2 p.m. at West Clermont Lutheran church. The Rev. Donald Loots officiated.

Burial was in God's Acres Cemetery, Clermont. Schutte Funeral Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements.
