Ana Elizabeth Anderson

Ana Elizabeth Anderson, eldest daughter of Andrew N. Anderson and Ethel Stanton Anderson, was born June 29, 1904, near Postville, IA. She became a child of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on December 11, 1904, at East Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont. She was confirmed at West Clermont Lutheran, April 14, 1957. Ana attended country school near Clermont. She lived in Elkader with her grandparents for two years, returning to West Union school and graduating in the class of 1924.

She taught school for one year at a country school near Wadena. She then began an 11 year career with the Argo Gazette as a Linotype operator, where she worked until 1936.

On June 16, 1940, Ana was united in marriage to Lloyd Theodore Anderson. To this union were born two children, Douglas Theodore in 1942, and Jane Ellen in 1950. Lloyd and Ana lived near Clermont until Ana had to look after her mother Ethel in 1952, on a farm near West Union. She took over milking chores and share farmed the land, living on her own for six years, until 1971 when Lloyd joined her on the property. After 45 years on the farm, Ana sold it and moved to West Union.

Ana died Saturday, Jan. 4, 1992, at the age of 87 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Clair and her husband, Lloyd.

She is survived by her two children, Douglas Anderson, West Union, and Jane Klunder, Adelaide, So. Australia; her two brothers, Millard Anderson, rural Sumner, and Edwin "Ted" Anderson, Clermont; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1992, 2 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, with Pastor Laurel Nordin and Pastor John Nordin officiating. Organist was Barbara Temple. Soloist was Art Amundson.
