Milo Anderson

Milo Orlando Anderson was born February 14, 1907, in Clayton County, Iowa, on the farm now occupied by the Robert Nelson family. He died March 14, 1974, at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, having been a patient there since October 1973.

Milo was the oldest of three sons born to Andrew and Emma Iverson Anderson. He was baptized at the East Clermont Lutheran Church March 31, 1907, and confirmed May 15, 1921 at the West Clermont Lutheran Church. He graduated from Clermont High School in 1925.

At the age of 16 he contracted asthma, which plagued him the rest of his life. Ill health forced him to leave the farm in 1967, when he and his mother moved to Clermont. The immediate cause of death was heart failure, but his health had been failing for several years, as emphysema, then lung cancer took their toll.

Milo loved flowers and enjoyed working with them. He was noted for being a kind neighbor and will long be remembered for his kindness to those in need.

His father preceded him in death in 1950.

Survivors include his mother, two brothers, Ivan and Allan, both of Elgin, two nieces, one nephew, and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, March 16, at the West Clermont Lutheran Church, with Pastor Clarence Johnson officiating assisted by Pastor Duane Berg of Elgin.

Arthur and Clarence Amundson sang a duet, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Richard Neumann. Pallbearers were Vernon Anderson, Kenneth Kohls, Hubert Cummings, James Lennon, Douglas Appelman and David Appelman.

Schutte Funeral Home, Postville, was in charge of arrangements.
