Elgin Echo, Thursday, 4 June 1903.
Word was received of the death of Chas. H. Quigley, the well known West Union attorney who passed away at Independence, Wednesday morning. The cause of his death was acute pneumonia. The funeral will be held from his late home at West Union Friday morning. Mr. Quigley, had up to a short time ago, been classed as one of the best and ablest lawyers in Northeastern Iowa. A week or so ago his mind failed and he was sent to Independence for treatment. Whether or not the fatal disease was contracted before leaving West Union is not known but it is certain the ravages of the disease were sure, and in a very short time culminated in the death of one of Fayette county's respected citizens. Attorney Quigley has many friends who will be pained to learn of his sudden death.
