Elgin Echo, Thursday, 1 January 1903.
Tuesday, Dec. 23, J. O. Miller and wife went to West Union. Soon after reaching there they separated to do trading and to attend to business matters. Mr. Miller went to S. B. Zeigler's office, and a few moments before noon he was sitting talking to Will Brause. Suddenly he gave a gasp, his head fell forward, he lopped over in his chair and was dead. Mr. Zeigler hastily summoned Dr. Whitmore, who pronounced the cause of death as heart disease. Mrs. Miller was in Peebles' store when she heard that a man had dropped dead in Mr. Zeigler's office. Knowing that Mr. Miller was in Mr. Zeigler's office and that he was troubled with his heart she hastened there. The scene was a most pitiful one as she fully realized that the life companion she had left but a few moments before had been snuffed out of existence instantly.
John Orton Miller was born April 17, 1833, in Adica, Cinica county, Ohio, and died Dec. 23, 1902, at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 6 days. He was married Sept. 15, 1868, to Francis Addie Pritchard. Six children were born to this union, four sons and two daughters, Frederick, Orval, Thos., George, Ellen and Eunice. All the children were present at the funeral but Ellen, and with their mother are left to mourn the loss of a kind loving husband and Father.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. Rice, of West Union, and interment made in Elgin cemetery.

NOTE: His place of birth is as presented in the article. A quick check of my Rand McNally maps did not show such a place. There is a Attica and Attica Jct. located in Seneca Co., Ohio, which sound similar.
Submitter is not related.
