Mike Halen, 65, 653 Browning Ave., died Tuesday at 10:20 p.m. in a Salt Lake hospital after a lingering illness.

He was born April 13, 1882, in DeWitt, Iowa, and resided in Salt Lake for 26 years. He was employed as a carman for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad Co. from May, 1922, until his retirement in June, 1946. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen as well as St. Patrick's Catholic church.

Survivors include a brother, Thomas F. Halen, Roosevelt; a niece and nephew, Mrs. Carol Robbins and Charles Clark, both of Salt Lake City.

Requiem high mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's church, 1030 W. 4th South, by Rev. Edward F. Dowling, pastor. Recitation of the holy rosary will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at 372 E. 1st South, where friends may call Thursday until 9 p.m. and Friday until time of services.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary cemetery.
