Elgin Echo, 17 December 1908.

Chas. Wetherbee, well known in this city, died in Chicago Saturday, where he was taken sick while attending the Fat Stock Show. His remains were brought to his home, West Union, Monday and the funeral was held Tuesday. Although a young man he had traveled a great deal, having viewed most of the principal cities of Europe while a member of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show when it made its tour of the old countries. He was also familiar with New York City having at one time been employed as a streetcar conductor there. He was a keen observer and an interesting talker and will be greatly missed by a large circle of young friends. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Kinney attended the funeral, deceased being a brother of Mrs. Kinney.
