Elgin Echo, Thursday, 16 April 1908.

Zachariah Jennings was born in Indiana, May 23, 1817, and died April 3, 1908, at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 10 days. In 1830 he moved with his parents to Fulton County, Illinois. December 10, 1839, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Morris, to them were born 10 children. All are living except Alonga and William. The living ones are John and D. S., in Nebraska, J. M., of Volga, J. E., George, Mrs. Gage and Mrs. Crandall, of Wadena, and Mrs. Fitzgibbons Of Strawberry Point. All of them attended the funeral except those in Nebraska. In 1846 Mr. Jennings moved to Iowa, 1847 to Platteville, Wisconsin, 1848 to Delaware County, 1853 to Fayette County, where he lived until his death. About 10 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Jennings received injuries by a team going off a bridge from which they never fully recovered. His wife died in 1901. For the last eight years they lived with Mrs. Gage. They were members of the United Brethren Church.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. Mrs. Nuedjgate, of Wadena, and was attended by a large number of friends and relatives. He was buried by the side of his wife in the Volga Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

NOTE: WPA records list him as Zac Jennings, buried in Hillcrest cemetery, Clayton County.
