Elgin Echo, Thursday, 2 April 1908.

Edward Thompson, who lived with his son, Bert Thompson and family, between this city and Clermont, died Sunday and funeral services were held Tuesday. He was past 80 years of age and an old settler of this county. His remains were laid to rest in the Clermont Cemetery. A daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Heston, arrived in Clermont on the noon train, just in time to attend part of the services.
