Elgin Echo, Thursday, 4 August 1898.

On July 22, 1898, occurred the death of Mrs. Thomas Boleyn, at her home in Pleasant Valley Township; aged 68 years and four months. Deceased leaves a husband, three sons and two daughters to mourn their death.

Mary Ann Brown was born in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, March 22, 1830, and was married to Thomas Boleyn on June 23, 1851. Mr. and Mrs. Boleyn came to Fayette County, Iowa, in 1854 and the wife passed the remainder of her days here where she was loved and respected as a mother, neighbor and friend. She had a large circle of acquaintances among the older settlers and was regarded by them as one of the best of women. Her death is not only a bereavement to the survivors of the family, but has caused many an emotion of sadness to pass over the minds of those others who knew her so well and esteemed her so highly. Peace to her rest.
