Elgin Echo, Thursday, 24 February 1898.

Mrs. Nancy F. Albright died at her home in Elgin February 17, 1898, aged 80 years, six months and 14 days. Funeral services were held at the Highland Union church Saturday, February 19, conducted by Rev. John Wyatt, of Arlington, and internment made in the Highland Cemetery.

Nancy F. Garland was born in the state of Tennessee August 31, 1817. She was married to J. O. Albright January 23, 1837. Their first home was at Niles, Michigan, but in 1853 they emigrated to Iowa and settled in Illyria Township, Fayette County, where they resided until 1883 when they moved to Elgin. Mr. Albright died June 8, 1891. Their married life extended over a period of 54 years. This union was blessed with seven children, two of whom are at present living, Mrs. Nancy Shaffer, of Elgin, and Henry Albright, of Nordness, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Albright were among the early settlers of Fayette County and were well and favorably known among the pioneers and those who came after. Mrs. Albright was a modest, retiring woman with a kind heart and a hand ever extended in charity. Her friends were numbered by the full list of her acquaintances. She was a loving and indulgent wife and mother, a true Christian and a steadfast friend. She was a noble woman; of the salt of the earth whose flavor is never lost.
