Elgin Echo, Thursday, 31 October 1918.

Mr. and Mrs. Melchr Luchsinger mourn the loss of their only daughter, Mary, who was buried Sunday, and the sympathy of their many friends is extended to them during this sad ordeal.

Mary was well known in Elgin as she spent all her life here previous to her marriage. She was a regular attendant at church and Sunday school at the Baptist church. Her happy disposition won her many friends and when she left for Minnesota at her marriage regretfully they saw her go so far away, knowing that distance is a barrier to pleasant companionship.

Mary Luchsinger was born on July 24, 1886, and grew to womanhood at the parental home near Elgin. In February, 1911, she was married to Fred Luthi of Morris, Minnesota, where she has lived since on their farm a few miles from Morris. Mary was of a very kindhearted disposition, had a smile for everybody and was much liked and loved by all with whom she was acquainted. She gave birth to a boy on 19 October and from the effects took sick and in spite of all medical attention and the very best care she passed to the heavenly home Friday morning, October 25, at the age of 32 years, three months and one day.

She left to mourn their loss a husband, three children, her parents and two brothers, Peter and John Luchsinger, and a great circle of relatives and friends.

She was laid to rest on Sunday, October 27, and the funeral service was conducted by Rev. Joel Banwart of West Bend, Iowa, who in his sermon could not find enough words of praise for her useful life. Her mother, her brother Peter, her uncle John Durscher from here, and her aunt Mrs. J. J. Banwart, of Anoka, Minnesota, were in attendance at the funeral, besides a great number of relatives and friends from there.

May God comfort the stricken husband and the little children, who have lost a mother's loving care.
