Oelwein Register, 21 February 1917. (condensed).

A. C. Wilson was born in Warwick, Ontario, Canada, Dec. 17, 1857, and died in Oelwein, Iowa, Feb. 12, 1917. When 20 years of age he came to Oelwein, Iowa, where he obtained employment as a clerk in a drug store. He studied pharmacy and became a registered pharmacist, engaging in business with Jamison & M_ttlin. In 1892 he opened a drug store on his own account.

In 1904 he was elected senator from the 40th District and served in that capacity for four years. For the past four years he had been a member of the State Pharmacy Commission and was also a member of the National Association Board of Pharmacy. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity and the Knights of Pythias as well as the Presbyterian church, of which he had been a church official and had taught Sunday School in years past.

For a number of years he had been afflicted with a disease that failed to yield to treatment, but with grim determination he continued to attend his business and the duties of his office as a member of the State Pharmacy Commission. He was seen at his place of business until last fall and came in his auto to cast his vote in the November election. He was up and about his home until a few days of his passing, he was conscious almost to the end. Tuesday the Iowa legislature passed resolutions of respect and it was with deep regret that his friends in the city and throughout the state learned that "Archie", as he was generally known, had fallen into the last sleep.

On June 6, 1885, he was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Darrah and to them two sons were born, Harry and Ralph, who have been associated with him in the A. C. Wilson Co. drug store for a number of years. He is survived by Mrs. Wilson and the two sons. There are also four brothers and four sisters; J, M. Wilson of Wyoming, Ontario, Canada; W. G. Wilson of Pacific Grove, Calif.; J. H. Wilson and M. E. Wilson of Estherville, Iowa; Mrs. Robert Davis of Wyoming, Ontario, Canada; Mrs. Albert Archer of Warwick, Ontario; Mrs. John Sherk of Warwick, Ontario, and Mrs. John Adolph of Aven Sound, Canada.

Services were held from the residence, 402 East Charles Street, Thursday afternoon, under direction of the Masonic fraternity, with the Knights Templar forming an escort. The Knights Pythias and the Pythian Sisters also attended. Dr. Grant of the Presbyterian church conducted the service and interment was made in the west side cemetery.
