OBITUARY: West Union Gazette January 22, 1886

WM. Andress

An old settler of Dover township and one of the county's best and most respected citizens, died on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1886. Mr. Andress was born in Stark Co., Ohio, Nov. 9, 1809, making him over 76 years of age. He was married May 24, 1832 to Margaret M. Rager. They had five sons and four daughters, all now living but one, Wm. V., who was killed in the army in 1840 (?). Mr. Andress moved to Lake Co., IL in 1846, and to this county in 1856, settling on the farm where he died. He has been gradually failing for the last two or three years from disease of the kidneys, and during the last few weeks he suffered terribly.

We are requested by the family to tender their thanks to friends and neighbors who were so kind and helpful during his illness and after his death.

(SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Son William was killed March 7, 1862 at the Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas. He was BORN in 1840)
