Elgin Echo, Thursday, 13 December 1906.
A telegram received at West Union yesterday morning stated that Dr. Fred Ainsworth was dead. He met with an accident Monday and sustained a compound fracture of the left leg. A letter containing the full particulars of the accident is looked for and will, no doubt, soon be here. Dr. Ainsworth was at one time a practitioner in Elgin, later moving to West Union where he followed his profession for a number of years.
About a year ago he and his family went to Newport, Washington, to make a new home for himself but his career has been cut short by death. He had many friends in Elgin and vicinity who will be grieved to hear of his untimely end.
