Dorothy, the 18 months old child of William and Lulu Lewis, died at the family home in Oelwein Monday afternoon at 2:10 o'clock. The little form was brought to Elgin Tuesday and laid to rest in Elgin cemetery. The funeral services were held from the M.E. church in charge of Rev. R. V. Porter. Dorothy M. Lewis was born Jan. 07, 1905, and died June 25, 1906, aged 1 year, six months and 18 days.

The tragic death of this sweet child is a severe blow to the young parents who are near prostrated with grief. She had been playing about the house and in some manner opened a machine drawer, in which tablets were kept, and childlike, placed some in her mouth. The mother noticed the little one eating something and going to it took the portions out of the mouth. A short time afterward the child was taken suddenly ill with severe pains in the stomach. The father and medical assistance were called to the home and everything done to relieve the sufferer and prolong life, but to no avail, the deadly potion had done its work. The case is a sad one and the parents have the sympathy of their many friends in the community.
