Jacob Sheldon Stahl was born in Wyandotte county, Ohio, February 21, 1847, and died at his home in Elgin, Iowa, October 13, 1902, aged 55 years, 7 months and 22 days.

In the year 18_7 J. S. Stahl came to Elgin where he has since resided. Mr. Stahl enlisted in the state service in the 4_th Iowa, but when he went to Davenport to be mustered into the U.S. service was rejected on account of poor health. He was an old and respected citizen of Elgin having lived here over thirty-five years. A mother, four children, three brothers and three sisters survive him.

Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday afternoon, Rev. R. J. Hack officiating, interment being at Elgin cemetery. We extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives and friends.
