Elgin Echo, Thursday, 8 May 1902.

On Tuesday morning, May 6, 1902, occurred the death of Mr. Grush, Sr., at the depot hotel in Elgin. His death was caused by being severely burned in the fire at the depot Sunday morning. Mr. Grush was about 75 years of age. He made his home with his son, W. I. Grush, of this city for several years and was loved and respected by all his acquaintances. After a short funeral service at the hotel, conducted by R. J. Hack, the remains accompanied by W. I. Grush and family and Mrs. W. A. ???ner, were taken to Deep River, Iowa, for interment. Funeral services being conducted to-day. We extend sympathy to the bereaved ones.

NOTE: IGPP has a photo of his gravestone. He is buried in Dresden cemetery, Poweshiek Co., Iowa. It is a dual gravestone with Catherine Grush.
