Obituary. Elizabeth Meyer Benson Elgin Echo, Elgin, Fayette Co., IA, 25 December 1913:
Mrs. Elias Benson passed away on Thursday, December 18,1913, at the age of fifty-three years. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Meyer and she was born in Allamakee county in 1860. In the year 1883 she was married to Elias Benson at Elgin and this town has been the family home since that time. Two daughters were born to them and they have grown to womanhood and have married. Mrs. Roy Bakeman, of Huron, South Dakota, and Mrs. C. L. Bopp, of our town, together with the husband survive the wife and mother. Mrs, Benson is also survived by two sisters and three brothers and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held from the family home in the city Saturday afternoon at two o'clock and interment was made in the Elgin cemetery, where she will sleep until the resurrection morn.
