Iowa Plain Dealer May 31, 1872, P3 C2

By an extra from the office of the Peoples Paper we learn of an accident that occurred last Friday afternoon resulting in the death of Oswald Schwar. The accident was caused by the breaking of a guy rope sustaining the derrick used in building the bridge over the Turkey river near Clermont for the B. C. R. & M. railway, whereby the entire derrick was allowed to fall. The weight of the rock on the derrick at the time of the accident was about 2500 lbs. It was supposed to be safe for the weight, but the rain had shrank the rope so as to render it weak.
