Funeral services for Wendy Swale, age 5, of West Union, were held Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, West Union. The Rev. Richard Menzel officiated. Burial was in the West Union Cemetery. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Wendy Marie Swale, the daughter of David and Marilyn (Messler) Swale, was born in West Union April 13, 1979. She died in LaCrosse, WI, Aug. 3, 1984.

Wendy was enrolled in the North Fayette Pre-School handicapped classes when she was 2½ years old, and she continued there until she was 5. She participated in Head Start Pre-School, graduating in 1984.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church School, attending both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

She is survived by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Messler, Postville; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Swale, West Union; great-grandmothers, Mrs. Lucille Swale, West Union, and Dorothy Aue, West Union; aunts; uncles; cousins and friends.
