Esther Luella Suckow

Monday funeral services have been set for Mrs. Esther Luella Suckow, 316 North Frederick, Oelwein. Mrs. Suckow, 75, died at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters Thursday afternoon.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 10 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Maynard, with the Rev. Darwin Reiter officiating. Burial will be in the Long Grove cemetery at Maynard.

Friends may call at the Brant-Kerns Funeral Home in Oelwein after 7 p.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Suckow, a retired homemaker, had been a resident of Oelwein the past 6 years. She had lived on farms in the Maynard and Monona area before that. She was born May 25, 1908, the daughter of Emil and Martha (Wolfe) Wegner in Oelwein. She married Helmuth Suckow Dec. 24, 1930 at Maynard.

Survivors include her husband, Helmuth, Oelwein; 3 daughters: Mrs. Robert (Betty) Ball, Monona; Mrs. Walter (Lois) Bruehahn, Monona; and Mrs. Roger (Shirley) Bender, Maynard; 2 sons: Raymond, Postville, and Robert, Maynard; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Julius Wegner, Fayette; John Wegner, Strawberry Point; and Ted Wegner, Arlington; 4 sisters: Mrs. Vernita Thompson, Arlington; Mrs. Phillip (Berdinea) Gardiner, Waldork, Md.; Mrs. Gene (Dorothy) Bright, Cedar Falls; and Mrs. Wilbur (Frances) Carr, Milwaukee.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Delbert, Alfred and Otto Wegner.
