Lois Maye Strochscheim

Funeral services for Lois Maye Strohscheim were held Feb. 14, 1984 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, West Union. The Rev. Stephen R. Root officiated. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements with burial in the West Union Cemetery.

Lois Maye Grimes, daughter Lindsay Alvin and Emma (Wegmiller) Grimes, was born May 2, 1911 at a farm near West Union. She died February 10, 1984 at Palmer Memorial Hospital, West Union.

Lois began her education in the rural schools and then in West Union when the family moved there. She graduated from high school in 1928, took the local two year normal training and taught in the rural area for ten years.

On August 1, 1939 she married Clarence Robert Strohscheim at the Methodist Church in West Union. They lived in Hawkeye until March 1947 when they moved to their present farm home near West Union.

Lois was a 50 year member of the United Methodist Church of West Union and its women's organization. She was also a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Past Matrons Club.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence; sisters, Mrs. Thelma Carroll, West Union; Mary (Mrs. Clarence J.) Brandt and Beverly (Mrs. Robert Gruhn), both of Postville; one brother, Clarence, Waverly; one niece and 3 nephews.
