James Bishop died at his home in Oelwein Saturday, July 29, 1922, aged eighty years, seven months, and twenty-two days. He was born near Lexington, Ky., went with his parent to Wisconsin when six years of age, came to Fayette county and settled in Union township near West Union seventy=one years ago, and attended the first school organized in Union township. With the exception of two years spent in Marshall county, Iowa, Mr. Bishop had made his home in Fayette county ever since. His is the third death in that family within a year, the other two having been H. C. Bishop of Elkader and Hamilton Bishop of Lincoln, Kansas. He was well known to many of our older citizens and all will regret to hear of his death.
