Raymond Brandt

Funeral services for Raymond L. Brandt were held Tuesday, March 16 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Raymond Louis Rudolf Brandt, son of Ernst and Bertha (Kuhse) Brandt, was born November 21, 1907 on a farm in Clermont Township, Fayette County, Iowa. He passed away March 13 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.

He was baptized December 22, 1907 and confirmed September 2, 1923 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He attended rural school in the Clermont area.

On July 4, 1931 he was united in marriage to Helene Buchheim in the Zion Lutheran Church at Clayton Center, Iowa. To this union 3 children were born. They farmed in the Clermont area.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Gilbert and Otto, a grandson, Aaron Brandt, and a half-brother, Chris Fischer.

Surviving besides his wife, Helen, are a son, Duane of Oelwein, 2 daughters: Mrs. James (Norma) Stewart of Oelwein, and Mrs. Francis (Shirley) Butikofer of Elgin; 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Verni of Clermont and Clarence (Ernie) of Postville; a sister, Mabel Topp of California; a half-brother, Walter Fischer of California; and a half-sister, Viola Katz of Hampton, Iowa.
