"DIED. In Westfield Township, Fayette county, Iowa, April 20th, 1861 Mrs. ADALINE B. KNIGHT, aged 37 [gravestone inscription: 'aged 36'] years. Mrs. K. was troubled for several years with Bronchitis, and for the last year she suffered much from lingering Consumption of which she died. In early life she became a member of the M. E. Church, but was afterwards attached to the Presbyterian Church, and remained a member until her death. In the triumphal march the way was enlivened with beautiful visions, and cheerful invitations for all to join her. As a wife she was affectionate, prudent and industrious; as a mother fond and devoted; and as a neighbor universally respected and beloved. She has left a husband and two children to mourn her irreparable loss." —West Union Iowa Era.
"Many of our citizens will recollect Mrs. Knight, who lived amongst us for a number of years—removing hence, in company with her husband, Mr. Jonathan Knight, Sr., some seven years since, to their home in the West. She leaves a large circle of acquaintances and friends in the community who will be pained to hear of her death."
