Funeral services for Alan LeRoy Rose, age 63, of Fayette, Iowa were held Friday, December 23 at the Highland Lutheran Church, rural Elkader, Iowa. Interment was in the church cemetery. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home of Elgin, Iowa assisted the family with the arrangements.

Alan LeRoy Rose was born June 3, 1948 in West Union, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Vidys (Pape) Rose. He graduated from Postville High School in 1966. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Panama. Alan was united in marriage with Karen Cline on November 21, 1971. Alan farmed in the Brandon and Elkader areas and drove semi-trucks for Keith Johnson and Mihm Trucking. He then owned and operated his own truck for several years. Alan enjoyed camping, fishing, collecting toys, sweeping lawns, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Alan LeRoy Rose died on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the West Union Good Samaritan Center. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene, and one brother Lyle Rose.

Alan is survived by his wife, Karen of Fayette, Iowa; two children, Duane (Mindy) Rose of St. Olaf, Iowa and Stacy (Mark Schott) Rose of Clermont, Iowa; five grandchildren, Wyatt Schott, Whitney Schott, Will Schott, Alissa Rose, and Tanner Rose; his mother, Vidys Rose of West Union, Iowa; four brothers, Jim (Kay) Rose of Arlington, Iowa, Rick (Darla) Rose of Postville, Iowa, Mike (Brooke) Rose of Monticello, Iowa, and Bob (Laura) Rose of Independence, Iowa; and two sisters, Lynn (Dale) Streif of West Union, and Pam (Mick) Newton of West Union, Iowa.
