William Arp was born March 18, 1909 near Clutier, Oneida, Tama, IA to Edward Arp and Bertha Nessler, the fourth of their twelve children.

Found in the 1910, 1920 censuses living at Oneida, Tama, IA:
1910: Edward Arp 30, Bertha Arp 25, Freddie Arp 2, Willie Arp 1 1/12[1], Mary Carstensen (household servant).
1920: Edward Arp 39, Bertha Arp 38, Frederick Arp 12, William Arp 10, Edward Arp 9, Gladys Arp 6, Helen Arp 5, Evelyn Arp 4[4 6/12], Harry Arp 1[1 9/12].

Found in the 1925, 1930 censuses at Smithfield, Fayette, IA:
1925: Edward Arp 47, Bertha Arp 44, Freddie Arp 17, Willie Arp 15, Eddie Arp 14, Gladys Arp 13, Helen Arp 11, Evelyn Arp 10, Harry Arp 8, Berhice Arp 4, Bessie Arp 2.
1930: Edward Carp 50, Bertha Carp 46, Fred Carp 23, Bill Carp 21, Edie Carp 18, Gladys Carp 17, Hellen Carp 16, Evelyn Carp 14, Harry Carp 11, Bernice Carp 9, Bessie Carp 7, Betty G Carp 3.

William Arp married Eunice Hazel Lehniger on December 19, 1942. They had 3 children:
Eleanor Mae (1946-2011),
John and
Alvin.

William was a farmer. He died October 18, 1985 at Maynard, Fayette, Iowa and was buried at the Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard, Fayette, Iowa.

Obituary from unknown source: William Arp, 76, of Maynard died Monday night, Oct. 21, 1985 at the Maple Crest Care Center in Fayette. Funeral services will be 10:30a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Maynard. Rev. Darwin Reiter will officiate. Burial will be at Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard.

Born March 18, 1909, he was a retired area farmer.

Survivors include his wife Eunice; two sons, John of Mount Vernon and Alvin of Corvallis, Ore.; one daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Davis of Dubuque; seven grandchildren; one brother. Edward of Muscatine; and six sisters, Mrs.Gladys Bigelow and Mrs. Bernice Lehniger of Hazleton, Mrs. Evelyn Quinn of Oelwein, Mrs. Betty Christensen of Waterloo, and Mrs. Helen Vargason and Mrs. Bessie Steffen, both of Maynard.
