Frederick Arp was born May 5, 1907 near Clutier at Oneida township, Tama County, Iowa to Edward Arp and Bertha Nessler; the oldest of twelve children. His siblings were: Katrina and Dora (twins), William, Charles Edward, Gladys Arlene, Helen, Evelyn Bertha, Harry, Berneice Delores, Bessie Geraldine and Betty Jean.

Fredrick (Fred, Freddie, Fritz) died May 17, 1975 at Maynard, Fayette, Iowa and was buried at the Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard, Fayette, Iowa. He never married nor had children.

Obituary from the Oelwein Daily Register, MAY 19, 1975: Monday services for Maynard man:
Fred R. Arp, 68, died Friday night at his home in Maynard. Services were held Monday afternoon, at 1:30 p.m. at the Delsing-Wright Funeral Home in Maynard. Burial is at the Long Grove Cemetery in Maynard.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Beth Arp, Maynard; two brothers, William, of Maynard, and Ed, of Muscatine, and the following sisters: Mrs. Clyde: (Gladys) Bigelow, Hazleton: Mrs. Helen Vargason, Fayette; Mrs. Francis Quinn, Oelwein; Mrs. Roy (Bernice) Lehniger, Okoboji; Mrs. Wallace (Betsy) Steffen of Maynard; Mrs. Betty Christensen of Waterloo and nieces and nephews.
