Funeral services for Agnes Christensen, 89, of West Union were held Tuesday, Sept. 10 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with burial in the West Union Cemetery. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home of West Union was in charge of arrangements.

Agnes Olive (Valen) Christensen, daughter of Andrew and Margaret (Rugtiv) Valen, was born Dec. 7, 1901 at Story City. She was baptized in 1902 and confirmed in 1915 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Story City. She was a 1921 graduate of the Story City High School.

She was married to Otto G. Christensen Sept. 29, 1921 at Boone. They had four children. She was a former member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Story City, the Grace Lutheran Church in Fayette, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville and was a current member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in West Union as well as the Ladies Aid and church circle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, who died Feb. 6, 1965; her parents; and one grandchild.

Survivors include one son, Roger Christensen of San Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, Naomi Stewart of West Union, Mary Steffens of Clermont, and Ruth Anne Crowe of Athens, Texas; one step-daughter, Marjorie Wilson of Reno, Nev.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Pallbearers were Kevin Steffens, Brian Stewart, Patrick Crowe, Alan Steffens, William Crowe and Mark Stewart.
